Rady’s Undergraduate Program is celebrating the end of a fantastic year. This year, enrollment in our Business Minor, which just launched in Fall of 2011, surpassed our Accounting Minor and became the most popular minor on campus with a total of 850 declared minors. Our Accounting Minor held steady and reached a peak of 500 declared minors.
Overall, we expect to graduate nearly 1,000 students this year, which means that 1 out of every 6 undergraduate students who dons a graduate cap this June will have completed either Rady’s Accounting Minor or Business Minor. A good amount of additional students also take just one or more Rady classes, either to meet another campus requirement or just for fun. In total, we will fill a record-breaking 7,000+ student seats in our undergraduate classes by the close of this academic year.
But our program hasn’t only grown in terms of numbers. Our faculty designed two new business courses this year, MGT18 Managing Diverse Teams and MGT185 Investment Banking, which have proven to be popular among our students. Kudos to our fantastic faculty for continuing to teach high-quality classes that give students the theoretical knowledge and practical tools they need to go on to be successful in business and accounting careers!
We also added a new staff member to our team, Program Assistant Chelsea Balderston. You’ve likely seen her at the undergrad wing’s front desk, assisting students and faculty alike.
This year, Rady Undergraduates took advantage of a host of career development, leadership and experiential learning opportunities. They networked with professionals at events like Meet the Accounting Firms, Industry Networking Night, and the 3rd Annual Accounting Summit. They studied abroad in countries all over the world, served as course Tutors to their peers, interned through UC San Diego’s Academic Internship Program, and participated in student organizations, including the 13 business fraternities and industry-focused clubs that Rady sponsors.
As we close the year, we’d like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to the graduating class of 2013. We wish you all much success and have great faith in your ability to accomplish extraordinary things. We encourage you to stay connected to Rady though LinkedIn or Facebook.
We would also like to say a big WELCOME to incoming first year and transfer students. We expect continued growth, academic rigor, and a good dose of fun for the upcoming year.
