Last night, Rady School alumni Silvia Mah (MBA ’10) won the “Individual in Services” award at the 2015 Pinnacle Awards for her support of female founders and funders to launch, grow and sustain successful female-owned businesses. Mah is CEO of Hera Labs, a unique business accelerator for aspiring entrepreneurial women to test ideas and grow their business. During the past two years under Mah’s direction, the accelerator has helped 350 women launch their passion-filled startups and take their businesses to the next level, creating more than 40 new jobs in the process. Mah is also an angel investor in female-focused endeavors and Co-Founder of Hera Fund, an angel fund for female angels investing in female founders.
The positive impact of Mah’s leadership and entrepreneurialism extends to the Rady School community, where she helped develop mystartupXX, an incubator for female students offered by the Rady School and UC San Diego von Liebig Center. In 2014, mystartupXX won the Pinnacle Award for Company/Organization and was recognized as one of the top accelerator programs in the nation for its support of entrepreneurial female students interested in launching innovative, scalable and technology-driven companies.
When accepting her award, Mah thanked her family for their support. The Pinnacle Awards take place in the spring of each year and are celebrated with a special dinner and auction. See social media highlights from Mah’s win below.
