In the summer of 2014, I was offered an incredible opportunity to intern for Premier Oriental Pictures, a top film company in Beijing, China. I was extremely excited about the opportunity, but faced with one small problem: How does an MBA student with no artistic background contribute as an Assistant Story Developer/Producer?
A year later, although equipped with copious business knowledge and a new set of skills from my first year at the Rady School, I knew very little about Beijing’s film industry. When I first stepped out of the plane after a 16-hour flight to Beijing all I had were a desire to learn, a passion for the entertainment industry and a strong foundation of business knowledge.

The film will premiere in 2017, and knowing that my ideas and skills were so essential to its production makes me very thankful for the knowledge I have gained at the Rady School. My internship helped me recognize the broad applications of my skills and showed me that I can easily transition from a casual atmosphere in the entertainment industry to the formalities of the business world. Regardless of whether I am wearing jeans or a suit, my Rady School MBA will improve my professional and personal skills and abilities and I am prepared to excel in any industry. That is why I am proud to be #RadyMade!
