In March 2016, we lived in the city with the tallest skyscrapers in the world. Here we come, Shanghai, China! It’s my first time to experience a mysterious country- China. Along the skylines of Shanghai, we visited Shanghai companies and felt the energies of Shanghai. Shanghai has been a leading power of China’s economic and trade development since ancient times. It’s still be biggest financial center in China. From the perspective of biopharma industry, many biopharma companies have presence in Shanghai. The recent news of Shanghai is – they have a new Disneyland!
Shanghai skylines
We took the China high speed rail (HSR) from Shanghai to Beijing! It’s difficult to feel the speed of the speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). Notably what we were is the world’s longest line, the 2,298 km (1,428 mi) Beijing–Guangzhou High-Speed Railway and the Shanghai Maglev, the world’s first high-speed commercial magnetic levitation (maglev) line. The overall traveling time is 5 hours, compared to the traditional train of 30 hours.
We took the world-known high speed train (bullet train) from Shanghai to Beijing.
In Beijing, we visited Forbidden City and the Great Wall. We also visited Lenovo, government Investment bank, and had a panel discussion with the speakers in China. Lenovo is a Chinese brand that has gained international recognition and it is amazing to see how Chinese high tech thinks and how they strategize themselves to the global market.
Cultural visiting to Forbidden City
Beijing is an amazing city with all historical architectures built thousands years ago. We saw the beauty of Forbidden City and listen the stories of the ancient empires to build their territories. Then, we climbed the Great Wall, and imagined how China defended the territory from the north tribes. When you are on the historical spots, you really can see the history in front of you. It’s an amazing cultural experience.
We conquered the Great Wall.
The last night in China, we went to Hu-Ton (the traditional Beijing alley) to have Chinse dumpling cooking class. We have a dinner banquet in vintage house with great music and great food. We enjoyed the conversation with Chef, and local staff. They made the most delicious food in China.
We experienced Chinese cooking class, making dumplings.
