GRAND PRIZE WINNER
Congratulations to Rady alum Loren Chang (MBA ’14) for winning our #RadyMade Story Contest and an Apple iWatch Sport! In his submission Chang told the story of why he chose Rady and how his Rady experience helped him transition from working in a lab to launching his own startup and local San Diego business, Executive Oil Services (EOS).
Chang and fellow Rady MBA classmate Andrew Zorko (’14) founded the company in their second year of Lab to Market with the support of peers, professors, and alumni. Learn moreabout EOS’s journey from Lab to Market project to becoming the first mobile oil change business in the San Diego area to focus on business parks and apartment complexes as an amenity provider.
Recently, Chang and Zorko even had the opportunity to help out Rady School founding Donor, Ernest Rady when Rady’s car was in need of servicing on the way to temple.
In the next few years, Chang and Zorko plan to expand their San Diego footprint and are on pace to double in size by early 2016.
“Keeping this short and sweet, I came to Rady to open doors that have been closed to me for years. I had found a nice niche in science (clinical technologist), but as I became increasingly interested in how the lab/hospital ran as a business, I decided to chase after more knowledge. Going to Rady was risky no doubt, being a newer school with an interesting program geared towards entrepreneurship, but the ability to grow within the program with its flexibility and classes eventually sold me. I now own a small business with a good friend from our Full-Time cohort. I have gained experience from both my mid-program internship at Cisco and this business, which has allowed me insights into the fields of marketing, operations and big data. I went from working in a lab, to project manager/data marketer at Cisco, to owning a local San Diego business. And I have Rady to thank for it.” – Loren Chang (MBA ’14)
