Thanks to generous gifts from 39 donors, the Rady School of Management received over $37,500 from the Giving Tuesday challenge, smashing the $25,000 goal. All donations were pledged to fully endow the Fellowships for the Future fund, which supports the education of future Rady School students.
To continue the Rady School’s tradition of excellence, the Fellowships for the Future fund was created to attract and support exceptional students. Thanks to the success of this year’s Giving Tuesday effort, fellowships will be awarded beginning in fall 2017.
Linglin Niu (MBA ’13), an alumna who benefitted from a Rady fellowship, spoke of how a fellowship impacted her MBA experience, and the importance of supporting the Rady School.
“My fellowship greatly lightened my financial burden which allowed me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, learning,” she said. “The generosity of the donors has been inspiring me to help others and give back to the community.”
Before Giving Tuesday kicked off, the MBA Class of 2006 promised to raise at least $12,500 – half of the $25,000 goal, and challenged other cohorts to make up the difference. Collectively, the Class of 2006 raised more than $19,000.
Donors who generously contributed $500 or more will receive a paver in the Rady School courtyard as part of the Pave the Way campaign.
“We are so grateful to the alumni, students, faculty and staff who came together to raise important funds for student fellowships on Giving Tuesday,” said Alexandra Mares, assistant director of development for the Rady School of Management. “The incredible support we received is proof that the Rady community is invested in student success. Thank you for answering the call!”
