“True philanthropy requires a disruptive mindset, innovative thinking and a philosophy driven by entrepreneurial insights and creative opportunities.”- Naveen Jain
As an entrepreneur himself, Naveen’s quote about philanthropy rings true to the power of giving and the Rady School mission. The Rady School was founded on philanthropy and continues to thrive because of the Rady donor family. Each January, we like to reflect on the past year at the Rady School through our Annual Impact Report. As you flip through the pages you will find the many successes of our growing school, centers, faculty, students and alumni. With this reflection of success, we also celebrate all the people who made it happen. Philanthropy contributes to more areas of the school than you may realize, and this is our way to share the impact that is produced when a gift is made to the Rady School.
$2.4 Million total support has been invested in 155 Rady Students
Fellowships are a way for donors to directly impact students by limiting their financial burdens to attend the Rady School. Most importantly, this support recruits students to attend Rady. Most students stated they would not have been able to attend the program without financial support. Thus, donations to private fellowships and the Fellowships for the Future Fund directly impact the caliber of students in the program and are vital to the success of our students and the school.
The Rady School is #1 in intellectual capital
This is a direct result from the Rady School’s success in recruiting world class faculty which is aided through philanthropic support. Without financial support for our faculty, the Rady School would not be as successful as we are today, achieving a #1 position in its first ranking by Businessweek.
Rady Alumni have had a $2 Billion impact in 2014
With nine alumni classes, we reflect and celebrate our many alumni’s accomplishments. Our alumni are doing some incredible things in our world, impacting thousands of people. These alumni were fellowship and programmatic recipients of philanthropy. The alumni are also the largest group of donors to Rady as many are giving back to the school to impact the next generation of Rady students.
We are truly grateful for our family of Rady donors who believe in the school’s mission and values, and who enable us to provide educational opportunities with profound impact. We hope you are inspired by the accomplishments the Rady community has made in 2014, made possible by the Rady Donor Family. Thank you.

New Year, More Impact: A Look Back on the Influence of Philanthropy at the Rady School in 2014 was last modified: August 30th, 2017 by Ashley Dittmar
The 6th Annual Rady Golf Classic, on October 6, 2014, was a success due to our many sponsors, participants, volunteers and the La Jolla Country Club. Thank you to everyone who made this day fun and memorable. The tournament concluded with an unprecedented three way tie for first place which was broken by a tiebreaker. After golf, participants enjoyed a cocktail hour and dinner where Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla, Rady School Dean Robert Sullivan and Rady MBA student, Martyn Gross, all spoke to attendees about the importance of their participation and the impact of their support.
The Rady Golf Classic benefits Rady School students by providing them with fellowship support. Fellowship support provides students with the essentials to continue their education and a chance to create a better future for themselves and our community.
As the Rady School enters its second decade and continues to educate the next generation of innovators, it is more important than ever to bring top students to the program. Enrolling these individuals, however, requires more than an excellent reputation — it takes financial support that enables candidates to select the Rady School over peer campuses vying for their enrollment. The Rady Golf Classic fellowship support has offered, and continues to offer, prospective students immediate assistance in financing their MBA and making the decision to attend the Rady School.
Fellowship recipient Martyn Gross spoke about the impact fellowship support has had on him personally. “When I think about what the Rady School does, it allows for a place where leaders can change in order to change people,” Gross said. “It is where leaders can find their voice in order to bring value. When you give to Rady you understand where innovation happens, where jobs will be created, where lives are really going to be impacted. I want to thank you not only as student and fellowship recipient perspective, but really from someone who is trying their best to make an impact in the community.”
To date, over $2.2 million has been distributed to 148 Rady students thanks to the many community members, corporations and participants of the Rady Golf Classic that have understood the need for financial assistance through private fellowships.
We are truly grateful for friends who have believed in the Rady School’s mission and values, and who have enabled us to provide educational opportunities with profound impact. We are excited to see how the fellowship support The Rady Golf Classic has funded will continue to transform our world in various ways.

As we celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of the Rady School of Management, we are truly grateful for the supporters who have believed in our mission and values in order to provide opportunities for our students, the School—and the community at large. Without donations big and small, we would not have our beautiful campus, accredited programs and innovative curriculum, graduate student fellowships, and research support for faculty.
Alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members have come together the past decade to support and build this remarkable School. We look forward to the next decade and hope you join us in making a measurable impact on our community.
